So, I haven't been able to take cora out in the cart because of my stupid back and neck. This has been bugging me. My left side is good as long as I don't have to bend too much and last night I had an inspiration - PVC. So, I ran a leash through a short section of PVC and hooked it to the yoke so I could steer Cora and help her balance and such while standing. I am pretty messed up right now and common sense would have said to wait, but then again common sense probably would have prevented me from adopting Cora. So.....

:) :) :)

You'll notice that she isn't using her front leg at all. She's resting it on the tip wheel bar. Honestly I don't care. If that's what works for her that's what works for her. She has plenty of time without the cart wandering around my house and yard to work that front leg. This is a huge step towards freedom for her

And now I am going to nap! Cora is already napping.

Cora, you are such a loveable screwball! I just love the way she keeps turning her head as it to say, "WHO is doing that bck there???"

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

YESSSS! Love those videos, thanks for sharing.

Oh I think you've just invented a very cool device. There are LOTS of folks who can't reach down that far either, you might have a new business on your hands!

As for Cora, well she just keeps on rockin our world. I hope you feel better though. Take care of yourself too.

Pawesome!

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

Yeah Martiall, I do recall Chris saying it's Eddie's Wheels. I think they did a lotof customization. She'll fill you n.

Chris! You and Cora NEVER cease to amaze me...EVER! To thik of how she first reacted to the cart...heck...to think how she first reacted to ANYTHING...a true miracle!

She's real gicing you a work out! You are so i novative with the PVC, maybe you can figure out a wah to hook up a skatevoard and let Cora pull you alng!clap You be real careful with your back, okay? You don't want to un do the progress you've made.!

This is a delightful update! Cora realy looks like she's actualy having a god time! I love how she's decided to "ride the cart" rather than exert extra effort sing is front leg!

You keep n rockin' Cora! Andyou to Chris!

Lots of love!

Aww... all the ncie comments warmed my heart. I so wanted to get Cora out today. The sun was shining and she was rowdy but I didn't have enough time to put her in the cart before I headed off to PT. I'm more messed up than I thought but I've found an amazing place so don't worry about me.

I did get Cora out for a walk today and she was so into the leaves. The smell of leaves on the ground. the sound of walking through the leaves. The sound of a leaf hitting the ground. The sound of leaves scudding after a car. it must just be so amazing for her, to have no sight to give it meaning. And last night I took her and floyd out together and it was the best joint outing we've had. As her facebook followers (hi guys) will know. After I let her out to the car, she walked straight up to the gate and then through it. She'd never been there before she was just following sent trail.

So things are going well and I hope to get her in the cart again before the week ends. Now that she's made the connection I want to capture the moment. And if she really does get it, I can maybe get both her and floyd out together more often which would be great for me.

And... for those who don't know about Cora. Something terrible happened to her when she was in the womb, at birth and shortly after. So her right front leg was deformed and she had brain damage. This damage caused her blindness. It also has affected her in other ways. She doesn't quite process things like a normal dog. She used to be constantly frustrated. She hears well but can't always connect the sound to where the noise is coming from. We are working hard on that one. She has some coordination issues, weakness on her left side and some numbness around her muzzle. In spite of all that she survive as a stray pup for the first 4 weeks of her life before ending in the shelter and then bouncing around between the shelter, hospital and foster homes. I've had her since she was 2 months and she's come a long ways. She's going to be a year soon. Holy moly, at the end of this month. :D :O:D So, if you are new and worried about what your dog can do, have hope. They can do amazing things.
